LAPROIG LISTING

Now in it’s 17th edition, the annual Malt Whisky Yearbook is a much anticipated delivery around the Booze Press offices. Focusing entirely on Scottish single malts, the book details each major distillery, the products they are currently offering in world markets, specific countries as well as duty free and provides a brief chronological timeline of major events in the distilleries history. Packed full of colorful and helpful photos, these volumes speak….well, volumes

In addition to the thorough overview of each distillery, the front of the book features pieces on topics such as roasted malt and it’s use in single malts, the 1823 Excise Tax, Japanese Whisky rules and the enormously broad topic, What is Whisky? Sprinkled throughout are numerous “Trailblazer” features, focusing on an industry professionals who have made their mark. These yearbooks feature excellent photography and accurate and valuable information (though the inside first page on mine was not updated from last year and still reads 2021…though that is the only error I’ve found so far)

EXAMPLE OF A TRAILBLAZER FEATURE

These yearbooks usually appear in Fall of the year preceding it’s published date. So we can expect the 2023 edition somewhere in October 2022 most likely. Though it only covers Scottish single malts, I find myself picking this up much more than the Whisky Bible these days. Though a staple in the “booze” information world, the Whiskey Bible seems to be publishing the same ratings for particular whiskies year after year, and as there is minimal content, I no longer feel the need to grab it every year. The Yearbook however, with it’s updated info and features, feels far more fresh and up to date. Be sure to grab your 2022 copy soon.
