WINE AND CHOCOLATE CAN BE A SENSUAL EXPERIENCE
We are all aware of the allure and the sensuality associated with chocolate, wine and a certain atmosphere that can bring a romantic evening to a climactic conclusion (did I actually say that?) But where does all this sexually charged energy associated with these 2 items originate from? There is a fair amount of scientific research out there (wish I was part of those findings) as well as some practical studies. As a matter of fact, Shape Magazine ranks chocolate and red wine as #3 and #4 on their list of Foods for Better Sex. Well, without getting to technical and yet still having some fun. Here goes….
Red wine contains flavonoids which may improve sexual functioning by increasing blood flow to key areas of the body. Chocolate contains phenylethylamine (PEA) which triggers the release of feel-good dopamine the brain and is released during sex. The PEA is in direct relation to the percentage of cocoa in your chocolate, so be sure to get at least 60% in your “treats”. Italian scientists have also found that women who had a daily chocolate treat reported higher sexual desire than those who did without and the Journal of Sexual Medicine found that women who drank 1 to 2 glasses of red wine had a more increased sexual desire and functioning than teetotalers.
