As the world of specialty spirits and craft beers have grown, tasting rooms for these small batch and sometimes experimental adult beverages have sprung up in some fairly unlikely locales. Once such place is the Las Vegas Distillery located just outside of Sin City, in the community of Henderson. Recently, I popped on over to check out the “digs” and take in the “ALL IN!” TOUR & TASTING. This 75 minute tour gives you a great opportunity to experience all that the distillery has to offer. You will learn about the story of Nevada’s first distillery and see how they make their spirits, plus you can taste the libations made on property. The “ALL IN!” tour and tasting will run you $20

Recently I had the opportunity to take the tour and sample some of the “goods”…and good they were. Here are my findings…

Gin – Peppermint is the prominent of all aromas but a multitude of others flood the nostrils. Absent (thankfully) for the most part, is the juniper piney essence. Very interesting and quite pleasant. This would fall under that category of having it on hand to impressive the guests with your knowledge of unique spirits

Moonshine – This is the 4 Grain before the barrel treatment. A sweet on the nose spirit with an almost silver tequila aroma. Rolls over the tongue with a kick. Finish is almost minty. Much more refined than many oof the moonshines I’ve tasted

4 Grain – The product after 5 or so years in the barrel. Compared to the moonshine the oak is very heavy on the nose. A smooth, tasty whiskey that melts in the tongue and lingers as it fades on the finish.
